Thanks Laura, I enjoy your work too. Mail Art is about acceptance and I want to be associated with that, not name calling, so I left the group and the blog. I am going to stay on this site and see if I can find what I am looking for somewhere else.

I would love to get more mail from you. I have a show this weekend and I will be doing my postcard robot performance piece. I will send you one or 2 of the postcards I will be using.

The book wasn't in great shape, but I thought the illustrations were awesome and would be appreciated by a fellow artist! Enjoy!

  • we'll definitely be sending you one of the tabs from it, but it may be delayed quite some time. my creative writing teacher is looking into finding somewhere to display it before it gets mailed out.

and i'm inviting you to my mail art call for that!

  • awesome!

    i appreciate the quick response!

i'll make sure to send you out an official 'invite' regardless. ;-)

Bonjour Laura! Thanks for the lovely envelope that arrived in my post box this morning. There are some very slick chicks on it, and I assume that one of them is you (but don't tell me which one so I can keep, er, guessing). I'll mail you something back in the next day or so.

Happy easter, and may all your easter eggs be filled with chocolate goodies.

    Thanks again...regards, Val

Hi Laura, Yep, I miss our little morning chats. it's hard to do when I do not have my computer with me! My husband has to carry his work computer (yes on vacation!) & his Mac, so I just take along my iPad. usually we are hardwired and do not have wireless when we travel. Just happens this hotel has wireless.

Saw the Nick Cave exhibit yesterday!
Frigging awesome! Makes me want to hang onto every fiber and piece of junk that crosses my path.

Also saw an African doll exhibit and though of you.
I need to research this lady more. Very primitive dolls made from found stuff. Forgive the misspells and other. Not used to this keypad!

Back in action early week. We fly back this am, but don't get in until midnight! Time difference exhausts me. Seattle is great though. We had wonderful meals, great hotel, etc. Made a few pieces of mail art.
  • and if i had unlimited money, i'd have paid you back too!!! ;-D

  • send me the link to the picture description.

i really want to favorite those shoes!

also have something in the works for you.

my last attempt to defeat your local PO!

  • i'm completely broke right now, but as soon as my pell comes through, i'm sending you my shoes, entitled Real Superheroes Walk Barefoot. Next time you'll know my exact shoe size! ;-D

    Laura,

Back now.  Thanks for the ipad tip, on typing.  Will have to try that.  Now comes the fun part...unpacking!   At least I know now what to pack for Seattle.  We are going back sometime later this year.

I was certain I had the name of that artist, in the brochure, but it wasn't.  I was staring into the cabinet and listening to a docent giving a private tour; dividing my attention between the bits, I over heard from her conversation, and my husband who didn't have any interest in that exhibit

    .

I'm pretty sure she said the artist was a local one woman who had been influenced by African travel.  They kind of reminded me of those ugli dolls?  I'll give the museum a call tomorrow and see they can give me her name.  They were bunched together in a cabinet and very, very interesting.  They were the kind of dolls, a person would fashion out of what's on hand.  Thought it would be a quick Google, but Seattle seems to have LOTS of dolls.  Since I am not a collector, I had no idea!   Regular dolls are not really my thing.  I raised a son and didn't play with dolls very much as a child.

What attracted me to these dolls was they had a frayed, used look to them and I like that much more than pretty. A special kind of beauty.

I'll google McQueen.  I've never been to the Met!  Would love to go to MOMA.  We usually travel west though.

    :-(

Those shoes are superhero shoes!  What a fun idea!

  • prettylily

Just wrote the museum.  I'll let you know if they reply.  I meant to write the name down, but my husband was wanting to move on and I was sure it woud be listed in the brochure.  Wrong!

Go to the Genuis Bar (such a funny name) and get fixed up, quick!
