Why I am involved in Mail-Art:
I love writing and receiving letters and have recently closed my facebook account in order to concentrate on letter writing. These days, instead of posting on my facebook wall, I get people to write me by post and then I post everything on my REAL wall, and photograph it for upload to www.myrealwall.com

When I found out about the mail-art movement I realised that the wall, which itself is my work of art, was perfectly suited for incorporating other peoples art and decided that I would get involved in this community.

I am working on my own mail-art as well as actively involved in displaying any that I receive and I endeavour to write back to anyone who sends me anything.

Bring it on!

great to hear the lecture went well. Already one student joined the IUOMA and wants to learn more. The best compliment you can get for your lecture.
  • Katerina Nikoltsou (MomKat)

    Lookin' good, Andy!
Congrats on a great lecture and I was happy
to see the SKETBE poster displayed. Thanks for spreading
    the word about mail art.
    all the best,
    Katerina

Hey Andy... Firstly Very happy to see my little card going for walks all around, the beauty of it is how much something you make is appriceated by someone else (I would have never let the little thing out so much!) Also to let you know I will be doing Mail art as a project with the members of my placement schools art club after half term, Hopefully will send it Via post crossing and to some members here too! (and the very best to be looked after by you!) :)

    Sending something back...
  • cheryl penn

ANDYGEEZER! That's a tall order! Make/post a card a day? I tend to make in batches and then not for a bit - that does not make me a candidate?
  • cheryl penn

Definitely - but I dont want to push the parameters of your group!
  • cheryl penn

Posting you something today - hope you like!
  • Poison Label Productions

    Woo Hoo - Mail art...
  • Michael Orr

Ah cool! Thanks for sharing that with me. :D
  • Michael Orr

Once I feel a card is completed and ready to go somewhere, I archive and number. By the way. Because you document so much work. I've decided to make you a project. The bee you have received will be the first of a "swarm". :D
  • Michael Orr

All you need to do is sit tight and watch your mailbox, patiently. I have no info, I just want to see a swarm of my bees on your wall for all to see.
  • PostMuse

Thank you for the birthday welcome, Andy! I'm not sure I will send much mailart, other than MailArt365, until I am employed again, but I will enjoy creating and uploading cards that I can add to my stash for when I do jump back into mail with both feet.

  • Lady L

Oh yes, I am completely up for the challenge! I am just finishing up my piece for today. I just wanted to make sure there are any details that aren't obvious. I figure I make some each day (which I have been since I started) and post about it. I want to make sure there isn't more. Thanks!
  • Lady L

Did you want me to post according to the date in your time zone? Because its already tomorrow there.

thanks for the compliment :-)  I will be sure to show the love .. I need to get caught up on some things and I will be making more mail art :-)
  • Katerina Nikoltsou (MomKat)

You might be away from the computer and enjoying a nice holiday, but still wanted to post that your 12/365 arrived today in Greece! That make FOUR "365"ers to date, and they have "butterflies" (or moths?) as themes! My lucky numbers must be Nos. 2 + 3 and 12 + 13! Many thanks for your mail art and all the work for this project!

Well, Andy, No. 13 is above yours and it is from Jennie Hinchcliff, not a butterfly, but I made the addition over the "X"! Butterflies abound in mid WINTER!

Hi Andy, I just received your Outlines card and love it - thank you! Marion
  • Katerina Nikoltsou (MomKat)

My address should be on the "365" address discussion list...but not a problem, Andy. Have a good trip back to London, and I'll start posting my 365-art to your email once you get settled back home, no rush there either. Have a good trip : "KALO TAXIDI!"
  • Rani Solhaug

Andy I just posted "Lady Liberty" to my IUOMA page! 365 is proving to be an exciting adventure!
  • De Villo Sloan

Andy, thanks for your friendship! I have been watching and admiring 365 for a long time. It really is a challenge, and I'm glad you like fans and gawkers on the sidelines. I am fascinated to see how people's work evolves over time. I talked to Mim recently and the enormity of the project hit me. Andy, I think your "Real Wall" is tremendous too so - just glad we connected. I'm sure we'll be in touch. AND - you'll send me some mail-art? DVS
  • De Villo Sloan

Interesting, OK, in the US a Geezer is an ornery, elderly man. I'm afraid to know what it means in Britain, Then, Is an elderly Roman a Seezer? Regardless, I like the SOUND of Geezer. Bet you're already sorry you hit "accept." Don't be a de-letist.
