Why I am involved in Mail-Art:
I have always loved exchanging art with other artists in my own country and around the world because it makes it possible for us to share our creations without having to do it through the gallery system. It stimulates self-expression and creates community while giving us all a way to get our art into the world.

Maybe you could start a discussion about the 20 years IUOMA artistamps design?
  • Judy Skolnick

I like your topic. Idid pose nude 15 years ago for a photographer who wanted a model with a tatoo. Adventurous to say the least.

Thanks, Denis! I love this combination. And my husband told me to post the thing like this which I did some time ago. It's an Illustrator drawing. Perhaps great minds think alike...?

  • Judy Skolnick

Carla, it was overpowering instead of everyone chanting with fists in the air the way we marched in the 60's and 70's everyone was laughing and the street vendors were lined up all down sidewalks the way they do in Europe selling every Obama object, hat, shirt, button, magnets, newspapers it was out of this woman's experiences for Washington DC my hometown. My street, 23rd was closed by busses blocking the roads for pedestrians and police, military, red Cross and helicopter patrolled until about 8pm. Cold 33-36 but lots of furs.
  • Judy Skolnick

I think I have the snap. I can mail it to you after the inaug. Thanks for the comments.

Dan Landrum is from California but is no longer in the mailarts as of 2000. I did a 3-4 year collaboration with him and others in pieces and books and box of art works I smashed a mirror into and he covered with a moss garden. He was very good. He sent me some of his collection I have.

    Hi Carla
Thank you for the photo of me you've changed, I like it a lot. And thank you for the comments on my mailart. The origami rhinoceros was hard to do. It was for an exhibition. The journalist who was reporting on the exhibition seemed to be impressed that it has arrived intact and has spoken in its article. For the snakes, I will draw one for you when I have more time.
    Meanwhile ...

  • Judy Skolnick

You got it, My first husband was a Vietnam Vet and we were war protesters, He got locked into Columbia University, NYC during the riots and took a lot of pics of cops beating students from horseback. It was a mess, but eventually we won. Peace and prosperity.

The tent city DC was awsome. There are a lot of projects that display on the mall, quilts, flags, marches, I will try to take pictures of the art one as I know about them some people likt it. The Pepsi wiggle picture took me back to childhood when they were glued to cereal boxes and we collected them. Have a great Sunday, I had a great haircut. The salon theme is Marilyn Monroe and there is a huge mural of her above, outside near the roof. That is their art theme inside.
  • antic-ham

    great!
    big welcome your fish !!!
  • Denis Charmot

Thank you very much Carla. I will prepare something this week for you.
  • Judy Skolnick

Thanks Carla, if the mail gets here. Now they are trying to go to a 5 day mail week. Considering I do not get mail at least 1-2 days a week including ads, I guess I have to use all e-mails. I think DC has the worst postal delivery system of all.

Did you see the one in the Cafe group, by the Canadian cartoonist Chantal posted, showing Obama as a magician? It's what everyone's expecting of him. I'm hoping my hair will grow back now that he's president. Here's another one from Mr. Fish:
