We here at Mail a smile love animals and think it’s time to dedicate a mail art call to them. We believe it’s important to take care of our environment including all living creatures. Since so many are already extinct, we’d like to raise awareness of critically endangered animals to prevent further extinction.

This challenge lasts from February 1st – December 31st, 2017.

Create a postcard/letter or anything you wish to mail.

No entry fee, no returns, no size limit

Send your art work to this address:

                Mail a smile

               Pf.:20
              1554 – Hungary

The art-works will be displayed in an exhibition in 2018 in Budapest.

Send us a photo of your work so we can add it to our gallery and Facebook. (info [at] mailasmile [dot] org) or we can take a photo once your art work is received.

Pick an endangered animal from the list below. Once an animal is represented its name will be highlighted. We would be happy to receive more than one entry for the same animal.

    Dear Ruud,

Here in the United States there is a movement to send a postcard to the White House to tell Trump to cease and desist. Send him a Pink Slip!!! Tell him YOU'RE FIRED !!!
People here are organizing a March 15th, 2017 postcard mailing. Everyone send "You're fired" postcard to the White House.

    The address is:
    Donald Trump
    The White House
    1600 Pennsylvania Ave NW,
    Washington, DC

    USA 20500

I thought this needs to include the International community, because the entire world is not happy with this man. We do not want a war with the world. We most certainly have one at home.

Thank you for sharing with the Mail Art world !!!

in peace, love, solidarity and RESISTANCE

The ART has changed its styles, significance, and meaning so many times throughout the history, but it has always been a constant part of humanity and the lives of people. Everybody enjoys the ART - commons and royals, children and adults, blue collars and white collars - the art should not know any borders, limits or restrictions. The ART is capable to fit into any shape and form, to fulfil any expectation, to adapt to be understandable to all and to be enigmatic and mysterious. The ART has a duty to enhance the reality, to see the beauty, to recognise diversity, to provoke our thoughts, to call for a rebellion, to punch and shake us.

Please give your view of the art and send us your MAIL ART.

    Theme: Long Live The Art!
    Technique: Any
    Format: please choose A6 (10cm X 15cm), A5 (15cm X 21cm) or A4 (21cm X 29cm), if possible.

Artist’s /artwork’s details: Please give us clearly written – your name, title of the work, email address, website (if any). Please confirm your submission by email to mail.art2015@yahoo.co.uk

    SILLY STAMPS – an appeal

This is an appeal for 'SILLY STAMPS'.

What, you might well ask, is a 'Silly Stamp'?

A 'Silly Stamp' is an officially issued postage stamp that, when you look at it, makes you think, "This is silly!''

And then, ''What on earth is going on here? What could its designers have possibly been thinking when they came up with this image?"

"And, given that postage stamps (like coins, banknotes, flags, etc) are important vehicles for promotong national images and messages, what were the responsible (sic) postal authorities smoking and/or drinking when they approved this stamp?''

Some examples of 'Silly Stamps' that I have come across on my philatelic travels can be seen on my web-site www.val-herman-art.eu   Go to 'Stamp Art', then to 'Silly Stamps'.

I am collecting further examples of 'Silly Stamps' for an alt-philatelic exhibition that I will hold end 2017/start2018.

If you have any 'Silly Stamps'  -- preferably in an unused or very good condition -- please can you send them to me (with or without a caption):

    Val Herman,

1 Rue de la Vieille Fontaine,

    F-11130 Sigean,

    France.

All contributions will be acknowledged...and gratefully received.

    Thank you! Merci!

    Val

  • Rosy - Travelling Light Project

Travelling Light Project - can you help to put the world in a suitcase?

The Travelling Light Project is an experiment to see if I can connect with the whole world, using modern technological advances in the name of art. My aim is to collect an object from every country in the world, small objects that can be sent my mail (physical objects) or email (virtual objects) and to put them all inside a handheld suitcase to create a travelling performance. Maybe you would like to send me an object and help to put the world in a suitcase?

I currently have 60 objects from 60 people in 60 countries, you can see them on Instagram at rosy.travellinglight. To find out which countries I still need and more information about the project visit the website...

    http://travellinglightproject.com

The ethics behind the project are inspired by connecting on a global scale and celebrating this through art. I really hope you feel inspired by the idea and get in touch!
