I think the bigger circle hints at the pattern found in an apple when cut horizontally, wether intentionally or not

Actually, Martha, it is an ancient Macedonian symbol found on the shields of Alexander the Great's warriors and in the wall paintings of their tombs.But it does look like the seed "star" of a cut apple :-)

I was using Google earth to look up where a friend used to live, and there was the most beautiful sight. I remember years ago flying from the east coast of the US to the west coast and wondering what these were. I was “glued” to the window looking down in wonder. I did eventually learn about them.  Enjoy!

From all those fabulous "earth circles" will come McDonald's fries and Lay's chips!! Tons of potatoes in Idaho ;-)
