San Francisco's public transportation system (MUNI) eliminated paper bus passes earlier this year. I made these stamps featuring vintage passes from the 70s and 80s as a way to say goodbye.
I think your stamps are a great way to memorialize and archive the end of the paper pass. ~So much ephemera been eliminated in this "virtual" world...what will collagists and collectors of the future have to work with?
The following artists, books, and catalogs have been inducted into the Gina Lotta Post Artistamp Museum: Book - The Book of Stamps - Cabinet Books - 2008 Buz Blurr (3 more) - Arkansas, USA - 2011 Reed Altemus (2 more) - Maine, USA - 2011 Rod Summers (1 more) - The Netherlands - 2011 Lubomyr Tymkiv - UKRAINE - 2011 Miguel Jimenez (2 more) - SPAIN - 2011 Patrick T - California, USA - 2011 Cascadia Post (1 more) - Washington, USA - 2011 Jose Roberto Sechi (2) - BRAZIL - 2011 Shuji Terayama (4) - JAPAN - 1981 Otto David Sherman (41 more) - New York, USA - 200... A downloadable color PDF catalog is now available of the Gina Lotta Post Artistamp Museum blog. It consists of all standard posts (excluding videos and Pages) of entries to the blog in the order posted made into book format. You can download, then print, and/or keep your copy electronically. This is an easy way to document your participation, and show family and friends all the wonderful artistamps from around the world.
The Gina Lotta Post Artistamp Museum has just been updated with works from the following artists. See new additions to the PAGES section and a new video on perforating. It works!
some guy in Germany had a Mail Art Show w/ Banannanasas, & went to Look at it again, & Whoosh.... gone. was looking for the web thing to send to Anna. go figure.
Thank you for your ongoing support of the Gina Lotta Post Artistamp Museum and the blog. So many of you are both contributors and followers; I am grateful for your generous support of this project.
This month the two volume catalog is now available both in print copies and in the more affordable downloadable versions. There are full color reproductions of all postings in the online blog. The attention getting color cover showcases many of the works in the museum too. Both print volumes have entered the Library of Congress and are located in the serials section. A third volume is planned from the second volume’s cut-off date as the museum grows.
For this release I am offering generous discounts through February 7 on all versions before I market them at full price. A small thank you to everyone here. Shipping is worldwide.
Lastly, if you haven’t noticed there is a Donate button on the site that takes you to PayPal. This is here because my expenses for archival climate controlled storage and archival materials have been paid out of pocket but have increased to the point of stretching my budget beyond limits. This button is targeted at the many visitors to the site who may not be artistamp makers but would like to contribute something to keep this project going. And artists too have made donations with encouraging words. A suggested donation of $12.00 is a good start although a $1.00 would not be rejected.
P.S.: If you are affiliated with an institution such as an archive, library, museum or gallery, please let them know of the catalogs’ release and encourage them to purchase a copy. It will help us all as more people get to see this work.
I'm posting this because many of you participated in the successful Photobooth Performance project or you may be a book collector. The free ground shipping code is ending for this book and the artistamp catalogs too (or any of my Lulu books). The code is WHOASHIPPING. My discount prices will last through Feb 7th. Let me know what you think about the books. http://www.lulu.com/spotlight/ginnylloyd
Very clever stamp people, A series of accidents resulted in this Peace and Love stamp. The technical aspect of this mailart form daunts me a bit. Any suggestions for eliminating idiosyncratic marks on my perforations?
Hi, this is my first post here. I have been playing around with stamp designs for some time now, and not doing anything with them, so I have begun to sort them out and share them here...
This came out of a separate project featuring some of my favourite authors.
