  • Nancy Bell Scott

    Jason Motsch, that is fantastic.

  • De Villo Sloan

I'm sure some group members have already received cards from The Serial Asemist: An anonymous asemic writer apparently located in Spain. I was thrilled to receive a card and have used it for Asemic Front. Great work Serial Asemicst, whoever you are!

  • Jason C. Motsch

    Thanks, Nancy!

By now many in the network have heard of the sad passing of the great Steve Dalachinsky of NYC. He was one of the great contemporary mail artists, a jazz musician, poet, visual poet who impacted many of us.

I feel very fortunate that I included two collabs by Steve Dalachinsky, our ol' bud Ficus strangulensis & Lin Tarczynski in Asemic Front. Here they are in memory of Steve. His body of work will ensure that he will be remembered for a long time.

I had a wonderful experience doing collabs with the great Sharon Silverman (Massachusetts, USA) that comprise Volume 18 in her 50 Mail Art Books project. I have documented the book I received from Sharon here as an IUOMA blog:

    http://iuoma-network.ning.com/profiles/blogs/volume-18-in-sharon-si...

I know group member Nancy Bell Scott has a book in the series. Folks who have vispo in this series please share info with the group!

Sharon's project is definitely asemic-vispo friendly.

And many thanx to Sharon Silverman.

06.10.19 Mister De Villo Sloan, Wow!... a very professional book look...& a most generous & ambitious offer on the part of Ms. Sharon Silverman  (you Mister De Villo of course,  are most deserving). I'm gonna try to get my act together & see if she can tolerate my brand of postal folly. Thanks for posting, Richard Canard

  • De Villo Sloan

I recently completed a group of collabs with Jayne B. Lyons (Minnesota, USA) and I'm using for Asemic Front. The call is still going!

I've posted selections from a new asemic minimalism series by Donmay Donamayoora (Connecticut, USA) at Asemic Front 2.

    http://asemicfront2.blogspot.com/2019/10/minimalist-asemics-by-donm...

I think these are truly minimalist in every artistic sense. I'm always hoping for minimal work for AF2. Thx to Donmay.

  • De Villo Sloan

I'm posting a series of collabs by Diane Keys, Jim Leftwich & me at Asemic Front 2. AF2 is still open for anyone who wants to do collabs.

Welcome new members & thanks to Moan Lisa & Bruno Cassaglia for posting new work (along with others further along in the feed).

I've posted a series of snail mail collabs with Laura Ortiz (Toronto, Canada) at Asemic Front 2. The project continues. I'll try to include everything received.

  • Richard Canard

12.14.19 Dare De Villo S., Ms Jayne Barket Lyons could force a "carbon footprint" into poetry.  Habitually this Asemic Writing Group is a treat to view. Best to you. Richard C.

What has the potential to be an important book on asemic writing will be released this coming January 1 (2020): This is Peter Schwenger's book from the University of Minnesota Press:

    https://www.upress.umn.edu/book-division/books/asemic?fbclid=IwAR3E...

He contacted me some time ago about our own Nancy Bell Scott and "eco-asemics," a concept launched in this group. So I assume we can read about NBS and probably other asemicists and visual poets we know and admire.

    Check it out !

Group member Michael Orr (Georgia, USA) has published a book of vispo and asemics with Joakim Norling's Timglaset Editions in Sweden. Michael is an Asemic Front participant and I wrote a blog about the book:

I received this very interesting asemic object poem (I'm calling it) from Chaya-Malkah Frank (Columbus, Ohio, USA). Chaya-Malkah is a visual poet known to many of you, and she contributed to the original Asemic Front. Many thanks to Chaya!

Carl Baker - thx for messages. Will reply asap.

  • De Villo Sloan

I completed a set of collabs w/ Chaya-Malkah Frank for Asemic Front. Always rewarding to work with Chaya-Malkah. Many thanks!

Many thanks to Borderline Grafix (Texas) for contributing three of his pieces in our group to Asemic Front 2. (Scroll down to see them; I won't re-post here.) See all work at the AF2 blog:

    https://asemicfront2.blogspot.com/2020/03/three-asemic-visual-poems...

Note: Although I prefer snail mail, you can post AF2 submissions in this group. I'll take them!

  • Nancy Bell Scott

Very nice blog on BG's works at Asemic Front 2, DVS. I'm loving these works by BG. They're like nothing else. Maybe I'm biased since they involve collage, but ...

  • De Villo Sloan

Thx NBS - BG does vispo w/ the best of 'em. Thrilled to have him for af2.

btw nbs - have an envie from you! My auburn po visits are slow in the bad weather.

    more soon, dvs

Thrilled to have completed 3 collabs based on Af2 pieces by Borderline Grafix. "image degrades in proportion to hypnotic"

  • borderlinegrafix

Nice! Also called "mutative effects of collaborative systems, 3rd generation"

  • De Villo Sloan

Great work for Asemic Front from longtime group member, participant in great IUOMA projects & FAB visual poet Eduardo Cardoso (Sines, Portugal). Thx as ever

  • De Villo Sloan

Ten fantastic collabs by our own John M. Bennett (Ohio, USA) & Jim Leftwich (Virginia, USA). at Asemic Front 2

    https://asemicfront2.blogspot.com/2020/03/ten-collabs-for-asemous-f...

Here are some of my faves:

  • De Villo Sloan

Asemic Front 2 collabs by Julie VanBortel Matevish (Rochester, NY, USA) & De Villo Sloan (me). The foundation is an inkblot by Julie VanBo. "Rorschach Vispo" was popularized some years ago by Cheryl Penn (South Africa) here at IUOMA-Ning.

  • Nancy Bell Scott

These by you and Julie are downright beautiful, DVS.

  • De Villo Sloan

Thank you, NBS. Julie is a real find. She's in the FB mail art groups on FB but hasn't made the move to IUOMA Ning yet.

Julie is also the spokesmodel for my Fake DK pieces.

  • De Villo Sloan

I've been very fortunate to be able to put together an Asemic Front 2 post of FAB vispo (solo) by an old friend to many of us here: Alicia Starr Ryan (formerly of Iowa now of New Jersey, USA).

Alicia Starr Ryan exchanged mail and participated in vispo & asemic projects during that IUOMA vispo Golden Age with Cheryl Penn and others. Alicia is still making art and doing well.

I think this recent work is breakthrough stuff! Deepest thanks to Alicia Starr Ryan.
