ODD SHAPE POSTCARDS

an overview of all kinds of odd shaped postcards you send out or get in.

    OH ERNI........You are my favorite!!!

Just thought making a postcard in a fun shape and sending it would be fun. I have already started on mine; I have a house and a foot for some lucky swapper. Can't wait to see what you come up with.

Did you ever receive the Big Ass Envelope I sent to you?  Just wondering.

  • Sarah Churchill

In the UK we're charged by weight, not size or shape or materials, so I will definitely be getting involved!

Dean is the champion of Odd Shape postcards! He never takes them to a post office, but weighs them himself and puts the right postage on. Then, he never has a return address so the French Post is obliged to send it on to the address of the "receiver". Lucky are we to get really ODD shape postcards...like :

Greek Post demands a regular size postcard...and I usually place it in an envelope to be sure it arrives. Postcards or letters/cards in envelopes up to 20gr all cost 78 euro cents no matter where they go!So, my "odd" postcard will be found in an envelope most likely

I love all of these mail-experiments!

As Dean does, also I never take odd mail objects to the post office, and stick enough postage stamps (according to the weight) and put them into the mailbox.

So far all of them have arrived (despite of the fact that the size wasn't allowed or the material is weird).

Like this d-i-y coffee cup, sent to Eva:

And it arrived! See Eva's weblog.

In the Netherlands the minimum size of a letter is 14 x 9 cm, the maximum size  is 38 x 26,5 x 3,2 cm, and postcards must be between 14 x 9 cm and 23,5 x 16,2 cm.

But the ones who exceeded nevertheless arrived well (like this big card from Spain to the Netherlands, and this pizza box made card from NL to Spain, and even this far too small Tobacco package made card arrived, sent from NL to Morocco.

The funny thing is that much of these odd shaped cards are not cancelled, so they traveled free and the stamps can be re-used :-)

I'm still waiting to receive my first "Odd Shape Postcard" and have some ready to send back to my swappers.  Can't wait (but I guess I'll have to)....don't know where to mail them to.

Still waiting for my first ODD SHAPED POSTCARD...

Are there some questions I can help with about this swap?

  • Sarah Churchill

I'm pretty backed up with work and decorating our new office, so I'm slow on mail art this month, but I'll be back on it in July. You'll be top of my list Mary!

Just got Mary"s odd shaped postcard. The wisdom feet says - "Holding on to anger is llike grasping a hot coal with the intent of throwing it at someone else but you are the one who gets burned."  Very very true, Thanks Mary.
