Some Countries Now Stopped Sending Postal Mails to USA

I read that some countries in Europe and Asia, including Malaysia and Serbia, now stopped sending postal mails to USA due to tariff matters.

Even if from certain countries that can still send to USA, I hope that rather thick envelopes with mail art in them still can arrive to destinations in USA without being suspected.

    Also, now it may take a while for postal mails to arrive in USA... some delays may occur.

    wow

    Yes, Kiki, unfortunately, that's how it is.. it has been going on unofficially since May. due to pending customs tariff. The people from the post office received letters under the code that they were documents, in order to help me send them anyway, but it seems that no one has reached them yet.

    @Zorica

    Is it so? What a pity...

    I am wondering if we need a customs declaration label on every mail art envelopes to USA from now on ?

  • Zorica Obradović

    No, nothing extra is needed. Due to the waiting for customs regulations for packages, the institution is overloaded. For letters and postcards, everything will be the same as before, but they will not receive them until they free up space with packages. and that will be when they agree on the rate, the percentage of customs duty for packages

    So frustrating and incredibly shortsighted. The people who voted for this awful government are going to get a rude awakening as costs increase and services decrease. Thank you to all the international senders who are trying to mail work to us in the US.

    its all a very sad  situation when mail becomes weaponized politically

    I checked with the customer service department of the Post Office (by phone) here in France. As elsewhere in Europe, parcel deliveries to the US have been suspended pending the outcome of customs negotiations. However, I can continue to send envelopes (or postcards) as long as I make sure to use sufficient postage and do not put anything object (otherwise it would be considered a parcel).

    Our American correspondents will have to be patient, as all these complications may slow down the arrival of our mail art.

    It has become very expensive to send anything to the USA and the postal system USPS is so slow with overseas mail arriving. I have had to cut down my mail art mailing list, and have decided to send only "naked" postcards, even if they do cost a high price of 2 euro each, sigh.

    Postage is not high in Serbia. the difference between a postcard and an envelope (20 grams) is about 10 cents. Almost the same, so if you look at "extensibility" you get more with the envelope. (I prefer postcards, it's somehow braver, more honest, more emotional for me.) The difference between Europe and, for example, America is also about 10 cents. e, the gap in the standard: For example, money for 40 cigarettes = 8 postcards.

    From Taiwan all mail with goods cannot currently be sent to the states(and all mail to Hawaii and Guam has been suspended). This means anything sent small packet/parcel. From what I've read letters, postcards and printed matter can still go through though.
