Most recent gel press creations: paper quilt style handmade postcards made with some recent printed papers.

Sil, the left one is a photo I use to transfer: be sure you roll a thin layer of black acryl paint on your gelli plate. Thin is essential here! Put your transfer picture on the plate and rub. Remove. Wait until the ink is dry. Apply another color on your plate, preferably a light color. It doesn't have to be as thin as the first layer. Now you can pull a print from the plate (right).

I cleaned some areas of the original (left).

Experiment with the pictures you use.Coated paper is often difficult.Try newspaper pictures, because the ink in newspapers is still a bit wet and will easily transfer.

N.B. you can buy a silicone baking mat as a gelli plate! (3 euro at Blokker).

Good luck en show us the results.

Hey Carien, can you explain how you used the gelli in booth photos you postes some minutes ago? I make my own gelliplates and use them to make backgrounds. Trided transferring photos from magazines but that never worked.

I can't think of a form of printmaking that I don't like.  This one is new to me as a product, but monotype-like in function.
