Sorry, the photos are all upside-down... :-/
Welcome Kiki. What?? From Osaka, Japan to Serbia? That's an amazing adventure. I will include a comment about it on the next blog post. Any photos to document this adventure?
Hello!
I travelled to Serbia, Europe, for two weeks in April 2023 and I met a fellow mail artist, Predrag, who is also on IUOMA, in person. We made collage cards and drawings together. Such a fabulous time!! I hope to visit Serbia again :-)
If any of you visits Osaka City, Japan, hopefully on the weekends, I would be happy to meet you in person :-)
Welcome Janys. We are 9 members strong.
If anyone has any fun mail art stories they would want to share on the blog, let me know. Did you attend a mail art meet-up? Did you ever travel hundreds of miles to meet a mail art friend? This is all volunteer and not for pay since I do not make money from the blog and am not planning to. No google ads.
I want to promote mail art and mail artists. Feedback has been good so far from readers.
thank you for the kind welcome.
yes...and one could see by whom one is influenced - the mood one was into when he/she created the envelope..personal interests....etc
today it is already possible to see through evaluation of ones internet-behaviour if the person is pregnant or in which state of menstrual cycle she is. I read in an article that pregnant people would be the most interesting target group for personalised advertisements at the moment.
And welcome to the group Rebekka.
Now that you mention it, I wonder if the AI programs of the future will be able to find useful information from mail art posted on IUOMA. They could see geographic location based on the addresses which is probably pretty easy for them, since the USPS already photographs every envelope it processes using high speed scanners.
They could maybe figure out if a person is making unapproved political statements. Watch your use of rubber stamps with words on them starting in 2025! :-) They could be figuring out a person's general interests based on the imagery of collages or drawings.
Well yes an AI program to generate useful data about a person based on what kind of abstract art they make could be big business.
Want to support the IUOMA with a financial gift via PayPal?
The money will be used to keep the IUOMA-platform alive. Current donations keep platform online till 1-august-2025. If you want to donate to get IUOMA-publications into archives and museums please mention this with your donation. It will then be used to send some hardcopy books into museums and archives. You can order books yourself too at the IUOMA-Bookshop. That will sponsor the IUOMA as well.
IMPORTANT: please use the friends/family option with donation on Paypal. That makes transaction fee the lowest.
This IUOMA platform on NING has no advertisings, so the funding is completely depending on donationsby members. Access remains free for everybody off course
