Who will you send  your first piece of mail to? I've been thinking about this a lot. Will it be someone in this group? Will it be one of the many mail artists I've exchanged MA with over the years? Will it be one of my letter writing friends, or my artist friends, a complete stranger? Do I put names in a "hat" and pull one randomly? What have you decided to do? This is really, truly, something I've been pondering. Okay, enough, now I'm off to see a movie.

I decided right at the start to whom to send 1/365 to, but that will be revealed later. The rest will be pretty much random, except for a couple MA projects I've identified and a few people to whom I "owe" postcards.
I am back and forth on saving all my MailArt365, too, Katerina. I would love to save it all up, addressed and written on the day it was created (my message would always be "evergreen," meaning it would not be time sensitive), but mail all of it on Dec 1 2011. But ... then I start thinking about just keeping a journal with the details of each mailing since the actual postcard scan will be on the blog. Whatever I decide, I know 1/365 will get mailed.
I never suggested I would not be creating a piece of mail every day specifically for MailArt365, just that I might not mail it after it has been created so that I could mail all at once at year's end. Does it really matter if the card is mailed everyday as long as the cards are created everyday? I don't see why this would matter.
I think we each need to do this 365 project as if it were our own (which it is) with our own idea of how we'll approach it, with thanks to Andy, for coming up with an idea that we do it together. My son, Noah, the 365 day project guy par excellence, would support that.
I have a HUGE backlog of people I'm meant to send to, so they will be first on the list. After that there are some people I really admire in the mailart world who will get a piece, then I think I may send some to some of the great bloggers who do mailart. So yes, a completely random set of addresses for me, and no doubt some will overlap.
I think I am going to attempt 365 different people for this project. My address book currently holds 7,467 (not kidding) addresses, and I add about 20 a week. I'm sure I can find 365 people who will enjoy being a part of this wonderful project.
WHAAAAT!?! Are there that many people in the world!? You have a point though, everyone should have a chance at a piece
How do people feel about sending to Non-mailartists? I know that recently there was quite a lively debate on the postcrossing group here on IUOMA in which people were saying that they felt more non-mailartists needed to be exposed to mailart.

I know that when I send I usually send to mailartists and occasionally, when I feel a little daring, I send to non-mailartists, but usually post enthusiasts.

What do you feel about sending to non-mailartists? I'd like to hear your opinions. How many of your 365 do you think weill go to non-mailartists?

I reckon about 1 in 5 of mine will
I spent some time the other day gathering addresses of about 200 IUOMA members from the site, so I think I will focus on them, but not until mid-year, when I'm more confident. In the beginning, most of my cards will go to people who don't typically send homemade, but who I am sure will enjoy receiving ... like you said, Andy ... post enthusiasts. I have lots of addresses from SendSomething.net where most folk are very comfortable with handmade. And I bet I'll get a Postcrossing address or two at some point, too. I'm up to having 50 postcards traveling on Postcrossing now. It's amazing!
i think 1-5 will go to a mail artist...
like i said - i don't know many people but I am sure I will figure something out
i don't know anyone...

anybody that put an address on a postcrosing card or that I have sent to is on my list so far
I might just randomly pick people from the phone book
