I don't have any problem with the journal travelling outside Oz as long as the participants are keen enough to contribute. I will put a list together soon so I need all serious takers to put their hands up now.

What do you think of the journal traveling outside Oz? It was very kind of you all to let me stay in this group even though I have left Australia but, if you want to keep it on your giant Island I totally understand.

I'd like to give it a go - am not a painter - like to work in fabric - so it would interesting to see if I could do anything for it!  Any thoughts on the length of time we have the journal before passing it on to the next victim - sorry - artist!  - Chris (back from a 3 month trip to UK & Europe with lots of ideas & now needing the time to put them into action!)

How it works is: I would buy a journal (probably A5 art diary) and compile a list of participants. I would start by setting a theme and do something in the first page (dawring, painting whatever). I would post to the next person on the list. They would add there contribution and then send it on to the next person.......etc etc. The journal can keep travelling until it is all used up and that depends on the number of participants. Obviously you really only need 2 people but more is better!

Another verson is that everyone on the list starts a journal and keeps it travelling back to them which they then keep. There are a few ways this could work but my idea is to send it around Oz with an Australian theme of some sort as we have people in nearly all states now (I think).

Anyone interested please get back to me and we will just go from there.

Hi fellow Aussies!
Anyone interested in a travelling journal - around OZ. Now with the Spring coming I think we will all feel a bit more creative than through the last cold months. What do you think? Jenny

ENTER THE DRAGON. I know it is a long way off but 2012 is the Year of the Dragon. As I am a dragon (born 1952 - yes that means I turn 60 next year!) I am hoping to put together a collection of Dragon cards etc. Not sure what I will do with them yet but I will figure out something.

As I am a freelance writer I would like to do some articles (I already commisioned) or perhaps put up an online exhibition. Any suggestions welcomed.

In the meantime if you are interested put your thinking and creating caps on.

Crutching is a blowfly prevention, although it is painful it is infinitely preferable to sheep being struck by blow flies with maggots eating the skin and flesh of the sheep which is I should imagine excruiatingly painful and long lasting. The stench of the flesh as the maggots infect it in a very short time is truly breathtaking.  The short period of pain with the antiseptic the cut lasts for several hours - no doubt.  The people who complain about this have never had to clean up the struck bottom of a sheep. Often this happens and one only sees the wool not the maggots beneath, whilst the mulsed area is clear. Crutching removes the the wool from around the sheeps bottom, mulesing removes part of the area so that skin will not grow wool again. If you have sheep, you want them healthy, not in pain, not diseased, not flyblown. Once a sheep is struck in this area the maggots keeps spreading across the body of the sheep, providing the opportunity for a secondary blowfly strike, these maggots give the sheep blood poisoning and the sheep dies.
