This is what I looked like when I adopted Val on 14 August, 2015.

Why is this an Interesting Postcard, Val?

It's interesting 'cos:

i) the bum of the first slip seems to dominate this Postcard

ii) there are no fielders in front of the bat, apart from Mid-off

iii) there don't appear to be many fielders at all.

(Let me know if you would like to read my Franglais story about a cricket match. i won't post it here as it has nothing to do with Interesting or Boring postcards; But i will send it to you for the usual fee -- a bottle of whisky)

Why is this an Interesting Postcard, Val?

It's Interesting because what's not there.

What's not there, Val?

Her Majesty the Queen.

How do you know she's not there, Val?

When she is BuckPal (as those of us who stay there often affectionally call it) the Union Jack is flown. It's not shown here.

But you can't see the top of he flagpole, Val, so how do you know her Majesty is not at home?

Because I asked her, and she told me that it was too noisy with all of these guardsman in funny hats marching up and down and making so much noise, so she was going to spend the summer at one of her other Palaces at Windsor.

A very fancy......What 'very fancy' thing is it, Val?

It's a very fancy bed made for the dog of Count Machauit d'Arnouville, Minister of Finance under Louis XV.

Why do you think it's Interesting, Val?

'Cos it's a strange thing to put on a Postcard. And a strange thing for a dog to have.

Does you dog have a bed like this, Val?

I would like to tell you that he has his very own 4-poster bed, but he doesn't. Do Ghi has 3 dog mattresses, one on each floor of the house, but he doesn't often sleep in, or on, any of them, preferring to make a nuisance of himself and get on the bed of someone ...who is not the Count or Countess Machauit d'Arnouville

Why is this an Interesting Postcard, Val?

I find it Interesting 'cos it's mainly a black and white Postcard, but the luverly lady is in colour. (And now we know from where Madonna -- no not that one, I mean Madonna Louise Veronica Ciccone --  got the idea for some of her stage costumes)

IF YOU LIKE BULGARIAN BRIDGES, THEN THIS IS AN INTERESTING POSTCARD, PERHAPS A VERY INTERESTING POSTCARD, BUT IF YOU DON'T LIKE BULGARIAN BRIDGES, THEN THIS IS A BORING POSTCARD

It's the 'Friendship Bridge' over the River Rousse in Bulgaria. It's from Katerina -- thank you, once again. Katerina wasn't sure if it was Boring or Interesting. Mr Boots, Do Ghi and I studied the Postcard very carefully, and after a long and careful deliberation, decided that it was Interesting because of the Bulgarian at the bottom right of the Postcard obviously taking a leak, and thinking no-one was watching him. But Dragan, we saw you!

NEW RULES FOR INTERESTING POSTCARDS

The Executive Postcard Classification Committee* has adopted 2 new Rules concerning the acceptance, or otherwise, in this Discussion

i) they must be commercial Postcards, ie sold by someone or other

ii) they must be in their original 'as sold' condition, and not have anything stuck, drawn, collaged, etc on the picture side.

*The Executive Postcard Classification Committee comprises Mr. Boots, Do Ghi°° and VMH

TWO INTERESTING POSTCARDS FROM KATERINA (and an attempt by Val to make one of them a bit more interesting)

1. Government Palace, Rhodes Island, Greece

Katerina says that Rhodes Island Greece, should not be confused with Rhode Island, USA -- so remember that next time you take a taxi in New England or the Dodecanese islands of Greece.

2. Which way is up?

This is William A Garnett's "Nude Dune, Death Valley" (1954) from MOMA's (NY) Photographic Collection. I am not sure if the Nude Dune is vertical or horizontal.

Or even if it's a Dune.

(And so, I tried to 'improve' it. "You can't do that, Val! It's sacrilege!" "But look what happens if you turn it around, and also make it sand coloured. Anway, the  Executive Committee approved this. So there.")

Mae West and Edward G Robinson exchange a meaningful look while having an interesting discussion. It was to have been a heart-to-heart discussion, but because Eddie G was a bit on the short side (or a short on the bit side) it turned into a nose-to-cleavage discussion.

Why is this an Interesting Postcard, Val?

I think it's interesting because not only is it very well balanced, but also because i find the pattern of 'waves' in the sand  fascinating -- and they neatly 'fold' into the little hill where the man and the camel are.

Why is this an Interesting Postcard, Val?

It's an Interesting Postcard 'cos of what's written (sorry it's not very legible) on the other side --'This side is exclusively reserved [nb French split infinitve] for the address'. Which means the sender couldn't write a message on it, or even put his/her name.
