as one so afflicted, here's a group for people who use books for mail art purposes or even just labor under the yoke of book addiction, those yearning masses who amass books intended for reading but which, mostly just pile up.See More

Only so many spoons in a day!

Hey all! I love all the mail art I've received. I'm replying as I can. I'm finding the site a bit difficult to use so I haven't been posting all the great art I've received. I'll have to figure that out... Thank you so much for swapping art!See More

Why I am involved in Mail-Art:
In 1999 I attended Burning Man. While there I discovered they had a Post Office, handing out mailart to whoever wanted it. They carved their own stamps, too. I was entranced. I started carving stamps and trying to do mail art. I love sending letters and other things through the mail but I cannot be trusted to be part of a group project or meet a deadline. I'd love to find others to share mailart with, though.

A group of mail artists with no deadlines or expectations

This is what I'm looking for. I'm terrible at group projects or returning mail art. But I very much like to send and receive the stuff. So I'm hoping to find a dozen to twenty folks whose addresses I can have on file so that when I want to make something, I have someone to send it to. And, when they are inclined, they can send to me, without expectation of a direct response. (Of course, thanks and acknowledgment will always be offered.) If this seems like a good idea to you, feel free to…

Hi, Amy, welcome to iuoma -- I've only been a member since the beginning of this year, and it took me a few dozen hours of exploration in the site to get the gist of it enough that I'm not frustrated any more. I wonder if it's intentionally obtuse to push members off the computer and back to the drawing board or even off for a walk to the post office. Personally, I'm grateful that there are no addictive algorithms to wear down the critical thinking brakepads. If you are interested in a little more familiar layout, try Mail Art News for some history and weekly iuoma updates, as well as a nice list of resources.
