Correspondence Art Exhibition at Halsey Institute Features Ray Johnson, Richard C[anard] and Bob Ray

Beginning is January 2016, the Halsey Institute of Contemporary Art in South Carolina (USA) will feature an exhibition of correspondence art by (our own) Richard Canard, Bob Ray AND Ray Johnson.

Comment by Richard Canard on December 28, 2015 at 7:20pm: 28.12.15 Dare De Villo S., ...Bob Ray is a fellow North Carolinian, a longtime correspondent (also corresponded with Ray Johnson), a contemporary artist ( painter, collagist & a musician/performance artist. He actually produces canvases & stuff [Recently awarded a North Carolina Art Fellowship])...not to mention: he tolerates my nonsense when I occasionally comment upon(atop) his mailings (the so-called "collaborations" ) & he lives at the beach.

Comment by De Villo Sloan on December 28, 2015 at 11:00am: Hi Susan, great question! The presence of Richard C and Ray Johnson has "taken all the air out of the room" in terms of Bob Ray.

I know close to nothing about Bob Ray. He is an IUOMA member. Examples of his work can be found online, including a piece I wrote praising him in 2013. You can see one example of his art:

Bob Ray is clearly a seasoned networker. Maybe someone who knows him can provide more info.
