Aussie 90cent price rise per item sent.

UGH! This week the price of postage has risen by almost a dollar to send International post. Until now we've had a $1.70 price for postcards and 'card only' post. That no longer exists. Any mail being sent from AUS internationally will now cost $2.60.

If anyone has any unfranked Aussie stamps that they'd like to send me, it would be most appreciated. (For my stamp collection, of course. )

Thanks, Jude for reminding me to read about Tove Jansson. It has recently come out a biography of her, in Swedish. Nice stamps!

Those stamps are gorgeous! How long ago were these Moomins invented?? I've only just found out about them in the last year.

I think Tove signed the first Moomin-like figure in 1943, in a satire magazine. I've always thought it's a series for young adults, and they have been redesigned to more child-friendly versions by the commercial powers ...

I was given some Moomin tape which is quite evil in its humour, and I love it! What's that girl's name, with her hair up?? Are Moomins a big thing in Finland, or are they just celebrating the centenary of Tove?

Little My is her name! (or original in Swedish, Lilla My) Her hair is great :D Yes Moomins are important in Finland and we miss Tove Jansson...

I think I've found a way to get around the latest rise in the price of sending mail to y'all from France -- use 2 or 3 low value stamps, and a high value one as if to make up the correct postage rate eg 5,10 and 75 cents. BUT if you stick the wrong -- and a bit lower -- high value stamp on (I am sure that you are following the highs and lows of this) UPSIDE DOWN, then you can get away with a slightly lower rate of postage (eg 5, 10 and 65 cents).

Yes Vizma it's a real bummer. I've started sending more stuff and using envelopes as you can sent up to 50gm for the same price.
