UGH! This week the price of postage has risen by almost a dollar to send International post. Until now we've had a $1.70 price for postcards and 'card only' post. That no longer exists. Any mail being sent from AUS internationally will now cost $2.60.

sheesh%$#@!

If anyone has any unfranked Aussie stamps that they'd like to send me, it would be most appreciated. (For my stamp collection, of course. )

Thanks.

Jude, I live rurally in Oz, 15ks out of the biggest summer holiday destination, Victor Harbor, which is 80ks from Adelaide. We've had 3x weekly mail delivery for 20+ years. (Mon, Wed and Fri.)

Sending mail overseas really is becoming a luxury...I need to reply to about 45 international mail artists who have sent to me this month. $2.60 each=$117. And that's for mail under 50grams. Oh dear...I'm not working at the moment and I may need to give up food at this rate...

No good mailing news in Finland either. I'll have to pay 2.30 euros (3.60AUD) for International Mail over 50g. To Europe it is, 1.50 euros (2.30AUD). We can also send in Econmy class which is cheaper, but it takes forever. I'll have to use light paper :) but seriously it worries me ...

Did you mean 2.30 euros UNDER 50g? Either way, it costs heaps.

From Australia, over 50grams costs $6.45. And over 250g is $15.50. I don't usually send stuff that heavy unless it's for a collaborative book to Cheryl, but 3 of my mailings have gone missing on the way to South Africa, so I'm not really keen to try my luck again. Hmph.

Move to New Zealand — I just received a 200g packet of goodies with only $2.90 postage on.

My reply was lighter but cost five times as much.

OK Alan, as a worldwide postal protest, I say ALL mail artists move to New Zealand immediately! It's a bit hard to understand what they say, but united we stand, right?!!

Äsch, sorry about the SA mail, Vizma. It's 2.30 euros for mail that weighs 50g-100g. And the rest, I dare not tell you what costs. The good news are: the vintage stamps are cheap :)

ha ha, New Zealand! Do they accept a poor mail artist...

Nice pic, Carina! Seeing stamps makes me feel better, especially Aussie unfranked ones! So, how much to send under 50grams??

Thanks Vizma. Especially enjoying Mr Churchill in the right corner and the prince from, eh Thailand I think. Under 50g it costs 1 euro.

http://www.nzpost.co.nz/tools/rate-finder/sending-internationally/l...

NZ seems to have abandoned small weight steps and prices everything by size. Our lot are just making things more confusing by using weight and size bands simultaneously.

My cards in envelopes (light weight blue and white trimmed) can be up to 20gr for 90 euro cents,

but once over that, it gets very expensive. I seldom go even half A4 as it costs 2.50+

@ Vizma dear, my mail art was not arriving to Cheryl some time back,

then I started to add after " 4051 Kwa Zulu Natal"... (North Durban)

Don't forget postal code before, and then it should arrive within 14-20 days :-)

North Durban??? I've put the 4051 Kwa Zulu Natal, and the rest.. but what's N.Durban? I've never seen that.

Alan, the weight theory would change if NZ mail artists started sending lead postcards!!!

I am thinking that Kwa Zulu Natal is the NEW name for Durban, South Africa...

and the "intelligent" mail services just have never changed the name?

Although the postal code should help them, but, ya never know.

Since I have been putting N.Durban on Cheryl's address, my mail art has arrived safely

(not "quickly", but it has arrived) :-)
