Feeling very lost on this website, but it looks so fun! Should I just be posting any random mail or just things from people here...
Where do those posts go?
Do I just join any group?
...
I feel like a technology grandma lately 🥸

I found the phone app hard to navigate and find the website easier. Also, if you click on a profile, people's mailing addresses are often towards the bottom of their page (although you can move it to the top of your own profile if you like). When i first started using IUOMA, i looked on the main page for active users posting to the site and sent some things out randomly. I also joined some groups. Mail art moves in the speed of mail, so it takes a bit to get a return and life gets in the way, but when i send mail i often start seeing returns within a couple of weeks. Feel free to trade with me. My address is in my profile.
Hi Bella,
It can be a bit overwhelming at first. When I started, I just focused on my page and the main page. Baby steps. I slowly got to know the other sections because everything shows on the main page, so when I clicked on something that interested me it took me to that page. That way I was able to get to know the site without feeling like I had to find everything at once.
If there's anything particular you're trying to find, let me know. I try and help you navigate. :)
Hi Bella
I tend to focus on three areas:
MAIN PAGE: to see latest activity. I might then click on a link to see more.
MY PAGE: where I will post new work or a blog entry (which will then also appear on MAIN PAGE).
GROUPS: that I have joined and which I look at from MY PAGE. Particularly Mail-Art Projects List
which keeps me up to date on call outs for mail art
INBOX: to see if anyone has sent me a message
But I also follow and post on MAIL ART, MAIL ART PROJECTS and IUOMA (2103 - onward) on FB .
Hope this helps.
It's not the most user friendly website, but it's just about the only dedicated site for mail art on the whole internet. There are some mail art groups on Facebook though. And there are mail art blogger blogs.
Mostly on the IUOMA website, I do a quick scroll through the blogs on the main page to see if anyone has posted something interesting.
Not all mail artists are on here, so don't feel limited to just posting from people on here. I don't know how to use the groups here and I've been hanging around for about ten years.
