Taidgh Lynch: And he opened his mouth ... and drew.

Well needless to say, this one got some good feedback from the postman & our concierge, who over the pass year have somehow become art critics.  They tell me that Taidgh's use of rich colours on the envelope enhances his drawings to a high point.

Actually I have no idea what they are talking about, but the conversation with them is much more interesting than just; "Here's some more bills for you Monsieur, see you tomorrow."

And what they don't get to see is what is inside.  That is a treat only for our household.  Drawing & text.  What's easy for Taidgh wold be impossible for me.  This one is called: "And he opened his mouth"

Thank you Taidgh, best wishes and that pen to the paper.  I like your humor & drawings.

Hi Thom! Thanks for the comment. Most of my work is generated spontaneously. A few times I have a little idea in mind like only using a certain colour or having a rough idea of the theme. What works best for me is not setting restrictions and just drawing. Then when it's all done I like to make up a little, crazy story in my mind as to what is going on :)

Excellent!!  Mail art & poetry: the perfect combo.  Taidgh's illustrations are certainly eyecatching and something to see.  Love the little flying birds.  Does the artwork/doodlings follow a thought/story line; or do they spontaneously generate as the pen rolls across the paper?  Does that make sense?  Sometimes I think that I "plot" my drawings too much, and that doing so stunts their potential.  Stream of consciousness versus imitation, I suppose.  Either way it's possible to "fall into" a zone and escape into the drawing. But have been admiring Taidgh's colorful technique and style and wondering such things... Great stuff, Taidgh!

Thanks Dean for blogging! Happy to hear you got it. It's always nice to hear others looking at my mail art when it's in transit. Have a great day!
