Received: Holiday Mail-Art from Courtney Prudhomme (Kinder, Louisiana, USA)

Mail-art by IUOMA member Courtney Prudhomme (Kinder, Louisiana, USA)

December 21, 2010 - For our first mail-art exchange, Courtney sent me a holiday card that uses one of her beautiful drawings. She creates elegant and meticulous pieces using a wide array of subjects. I've been enjoying seeing her work come online here at the IUOMA. Courtney uses fairly precise geometry in this piece to create intricate designs. This piece has some op-art qualities, and I think of Art Nouveaux - fairly subjective perhaps. This is an unusual and distinctive style that speaks to the breadth of what you can do with mail-art.

This is my first holiday season in the mail-art world for a number of years, and it's amazing to see the greetings people are sending. Last time I was in this, I don't recall holidays being acknowledged in the mail-art world. Maybe it was my network. They were probably boycotting them or using an alternative calendar or something. Anyway, this is much better. Just a very thoughtful and nice piece:

Thanks so much, Courtney. I look forward to trading more, and happy holidays to you and yours.
