Received from the Crafty Hag, USA-St. Nick's Henchman

I haven't heard from the Crafty Hag for ages, but there's nothing like a blast from the past to keep me on my toes with this reminder that the Feast of St. Nicholas is upon us and painful things can happen to those who've been naughty. As she points out: the Krampus, a creature of old Germanic lore, traveled with St. Nicholas. As St. Nick left gifts for the good children, Krampus punished the bad. He arrived with a switch for spankings and may go so far as to toss the really naughty children into the river. Using mail art to illustrate folklore is a wonderful way to tell a story. I absolutely love stuff like this. And those mildly-off, slightly metallic colors! Did you make the Krampus stamp? My Bavarian Großmutter used to scare us with descriptions of the Wild Man who apparently lived in the Fatherland and wore fur rags, rattled his old rusty chains and rang loud bells, looking for naughty children but I don't know if he was related to the Krampus. Thank you so much for this, Ms. Damme:-)
