Received from Jean-Phillippe Gilliot (Saint-Ghislain, BELGIUM)

Jean-Fi asks an interesting question here. Do we write, or create art, to be read or seen?  Given the threatened existence of post offices, is mail art going to eventually be of interest only to archivists and documentarians?  Although digital images of our poems, booklets, zines, paintings, postcards, collages, and artistamps can be sent and received electronically, it just won't be the same.

To Jean-Fi's other question, unfamiliarity with a language shouldn't deter anyone from taking the time to translate.  Granted, not everyone has instant access to online translation or the time or inclination to make the effort, but kudos to those who do, because it can open up a wider world of communication and opportunity to share, exchange or collaborate artistically.

Merci Jean-Fi!
