Received from Cheryl Penn, South Africa--Haptic Crafted Boekie

Cheryl's work never fails to enthrall, and I'm especially fascinated by her results every single time because my simple mind does not work this way. She is another mail artist I would love to see in action--it truly seems to be an organic process. The book opens up like springtime vegetation to reveal more beauty, more intellectual concepts through minimal language, and more texture to touch (Yeah, I'm going easy over those sewing pins). Great tones and color, too. Thanks, my friend.

Correct, Cheryl. Only one side will be showing because I'm gluing everything down to pages to give the appearance of a newspaper.

Thank you for blogging Bifidus - I nearly missed this - in action - O! thats quite a sight!!!! The Haptic Newspaper contribution - just to bring it up in this context - will only one side be showing? IE A double sided work would be wasted? I am still pursuing a thought I had when you first started the group - A Trapped Tesseract.

'Tis true what Cheryl says: "copying haptic rends it unhaptic"! But Bifidus, you have made a close-to-haptic feeling blog that could ever be! I "feel the art" here! Beautiful, both of you! That's swimming upstream!

Organic is the word! Well done both of you. My favorite part is the hyper-stitching on the last picture. Great!!

Thanks for the kind words, De Villo.

Bifidus, this is a beautiful blog demonstrating the haptic aspects of these handmade books - very difficult to do unless you are holding the work in your hand. Just coming off a scanning Lost Weekend myself, I appreciate the work that is entailed in putting together a blog like this. Your willingness to do this so that other people can benefit from seeing art they might not ordinarily see... Well, you continue as a leader on the Haptic Front and mail-art more generally. I cast my vote for the Cen-a-taur from Minnesota. Love this posting.
