Received from Arttower, Germany--Ship Atlases and Old Maps

Over the weekend I received these wonderful books filled with maps:

The pages from these books prove that art and cartography go hand in hand. By definition, maps are utilitarian but when I look at these examples, it's obvious they carry the promise of routes into and out of the imagination as well. Can't get this visual feast from GPS, that's for sure.

Arttower's envelopes bear such wonderful stamps--some good-looking new ones too.

Eternal years of beer (why bother counting?!) and culture and mail art--I'll take it!
