Ana Banana sent me some information about an artist who was showing in Paris; Jeff Berner.  I met up with Jeff at his show ... (OH no, very strange, while I was writing this; I just received an e-mail from Jeff).  He has just informed me that George Whitman who was the owner of Shakespeare & Company here in Paris passed away yesterday.

George was a real icon for many of us in Paris.  Many years ago I went to see George to try to sell him some of my books.  I remember he said to me; "Come on Dean, Quantitative methods for Business, the 60 minute Manager, The Employee Appraiser and Business Law part I & II , what kind of person is going to read these?"  I looked sad as Quantitative methods for Business had been one of my favorites.  I think he felt sorry for me and gave me 10 French Francs ($2.00) for the lot.  I was happy and went out a bought some French bread & rice for a week.  Those were the days, but sometimes on a cold and wet afternoon, I do miss that Quantitative methods for Business book.  George will be missed as well, he was 98.

Sorry I got side tracked there; I met up with Jeff at his show which was a miniature ranch which he had made.  Amazing, simply amazing.  www.jeffberner.com

I hope to meet up with Jeff again, maybe at George’s service.  Live for today.

Lisa, that was a great story and I need a good laugh.  Brill

Erni, Thanks for the photos.  The one from 1990, you can't see me in the photo, but I am actually in the store waiting to get my 10 francs.

Erni, Stay tuned, I have a few things coming your way today on the web.
