Since many years the Platypus is one of my most favourite animals. And every now and then a platypus reaches my mail box, all the way from Oz (and other countries).
Today I am happy to show you some of them.

Above the great amazing sweet Platypus, made thanks to Onions. Thank you Katerina!

Below the beautiful collage by Nicole Eippers:

And this Platypus collage I received from Laurel as a 'thank you' card for a postcrossing card I had sent her (of a hedgehog, another interesting animal, as is the echidna):

Feel free to add your Platypus, too!

And now I realize that I've never created a Platypus as mail art  (I've made 'usual' drawings and paintings but no postable ones so far :-).

So if there's anyone who would like to receive Platypus Mail Art from me, please let me know!

What would happen if echidnas eat onions?

(Heleen, have you seen these "onion echidnas " yet?)

No, Val, I think you mis-read: it's the Echidna who eats ants (the Echidna is also called Spiny Anteater!). Now that I think about it, I feel sorry for the ants...

The Platypus lives in the water, and I've never seen an ant swimming. So the platypus probably won't eat ants.
The platypus feeds - according to the English wikipedia - on annelid worms, insect larvae, freshwater  shrimps and yabbies = freshwater crayfish. And then can sleep for 14 hours, because the crustaceans (?) they ate, provide a lot of calories.
And creatures living in the water, drink water, of course. No C2H5OH.

Apologize for interrupting you, as you asked your question to Vizma. As she is living in the land of the Echidna and Platypus, Vizma definitely will give you a better answer :-)

Vizma, ma chérie...so platypusses eat ants, but I do wonder what they drink, and whether you  and Al C. O'Hol have managed to satisfy their first? Do tell...

Amy, glad the platypus arrived well!

Vizma, how cute!

Val: fEAsT them? No way! Of course I'm going to put a wok on bottom of my kitchen, too. The more sleeping places for echidnas, the better. Alas we don't have ants here as food for this nice animal, so it possibly will go away soon... I'll tell him/her to watch out for you!

Next up? Vizma's echidnas wok recipes & Heleen's platypus dishes for a weekend feast?

Very nice to be amongst the work in this platypus gallery!

I absolutely love echidnas, I've seen quite a few of them around the house...one day an echidna came into the kitchen and climbed into the wok, which was on the bottom shelf (well, on the ground) curled up and went to sleep!
