The joy of the elements of this piece go beyond the visual which may be difficult to believe. Nancy layered  fine parchment papers. Both splendidly painted and collaged. The other element here is the SOUND of the paper when lifting to peek beneath. so multi-dimensional Nancy. an angel peeks through the window on the upper left. Gracias NBS. It's always a pleasure doing business with you. ;--)

Many thanks Alicia for such a nice blog and to you wow and bow commenters. The paper underneath is from a beloved roll of very old paper that may have belonged on some kind of machine originally, and the one on top is waxed paper, also a favorite. It's great the sound is a large part of it for you, Alicia, because I feel the same way when working with both or either of those papers. This piece started out to be quite spare looking, but it's pretty clear by now that in art I have what buddhists call "fear of the gap."
