This what I have received and sent in the last 4 years:
2011. Received = 549
Sent = 590
2012. Received = 457
Sent = 464
2013. Received = 351
Sent = 360
2014. Received = 218
Sent = 255
Two observations:
i) it's not the case that I have been consciously sending and receiving less Mail Art over the last couple of years, rather, I suspect, that increased postal charges are forcing us all to cut back
ii) I dread to think how much this has cost me (and daren't even make the calculation!)
Comment
I am not that active but little more active than few years back so I get and send more but not as many as his... lol yes figure out how to get income first so I can afford for more mail art also...
I can afford this less...and less...and less
I've been here [at IUOMA] for two years [this month] and don't think I've ever counted incoming/outgoing. However, for the past year I have been keeping a list of incoming/outgoing pieces to remind me of who I have sent pieces out to and who I really need to reply to . . . postage costs, um, I don't want to think about that either . . . thanks for the stats Val, info to contemplate internally.
I love keeping up with information like this too. When I get back home and look at the numbers I can see how I stack up. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you Val. I try to ignore the receipts for postage I get at the bookstore where I post Mail Art. And the funny, inquisive expressions on the faces of the guys ;)
Quality versus quantity.
"Sent in 2014 = 255" ? That is less than 1 euro per day...not bad Val :-)
I am afraid to go back and count how many I have sent in 2014...although
they are usually under the 20 gr = 0.90 euro postage, so about 1 euro per piece let's say.
'Wondering how many Greek drachmas that will be in the future?
I do love stats! I still bet it's been your cheapest hobby to date!
Glanced at mine.. I thought I was very behind with mail art, as it happens I've sent 3 less than I've received and there are 3 people I've not replied to before, so that's not bad. I'm working on a bumper mail out again in response to mail and hope to include a few new people.
Hope you're having a creative year so far Val and enjoying yourself.
