Ana-gram from the Ever-Cryptic Ana Karina (St. Augustine, Florida, USA)

Mail-art by IUOMA member Ana Karina (St. Augustine, Florida, USA)

March 4, 2014 - The ever-mysterious Ana Karina (even her name has an ambiguous resonance) occasionally sends me envelopes containing her wonderful paint-over collages accompanied by puzzling ephemera. I call them Ana-grams. She provides no commentary or guideposts. This time, I am interpreting her communication as an entry in the MinXus-Lynxus Who Has The Best Hair Contest: Ana Karina is Contestant #14.

Given the indeterminate nature of everything associated with Ana Karina, I am interpreting the piece above as an asemic symbol; although admittedly, this looks suspiciously like a chair when turned sideways.

I like her envelope especially because it is made from a folded and taped brown paper bag, nice stamps as well.

Thanks as ever to the enigmatic Ms. Karina for the Ana-gram and best of luck in the MinXus-Lynxus Who Has The Best Hair Contest!
