As a result of clearing out a family home after deaths, my sister and I 'inherited' postcards from 1917 which our grandfather had sent from France to his wife in London. We donated these to The Postal Museum in London and subsequently they featured some of the postcards in this lovely blog post: 
This is one of several photos - I think taken by my grandfather - of his colleagues and their mail trucks. He served in France from 1915 till 1919 as a pioneer in the Royal Engineers Postal Section (REPS). A pioneer is a soldier who performs engineering tasks, and the REPS were responsible for providing postal services to troops in the First World War.
