I had been away and missed all the events in Paris last week.  But upon my return, I noticed a big brown envelope had arrived.

Inside it said, take a photo of Edmund somewhere in Paris.  Easy I thought, I'll just take a photo of him on the balcony and that will be that.

I got the camera and stuck the Hippo on the railing with blu tack.  I then turned to pick up the camera, then turned back, and he was gone.  I looked down over the railing, and didn't see anything.  I then ran down and looked on the sidewalk, under parked cars and even in the street.  No sight of him.

I thought to myself that Katerina & Erni will never believe me when I tell them this story.  But where could he have gone?  I went back upstairs and looked again.

Yep, and there he was, flat as a pancake on the 3rd floor window sill.

The police report figured that he had jumped, and the doctor said that it is likely that he didn't feel any pain.  In any case it was a better ending than those Kats had last year.  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3ZPbtoW4ZlM

Thank you, but I am truly sorry for our loss.  But as we say in Paris, life goes on and make the best of it.

Yes, unbearable, but it's a hippo.  I'll try the negative at Mt Blanc.

'Don't wish to be negative about this, dear InSeine,

but you could use the "rest" of Edmund for photo shoots in Paris, maybe?

I didn't have the nerve to go down and say to the neighbours; "Excuse me, you may not know me, but my hippo is on your window sill."

This morning I had a look again, and he is gone.  A search of the street is now in process, and a posse has been rounded up.  It's likely they will find him somewhere around the zoo trying to get in.

Oh, no, no, noooo!

Edmund was just "blown away" by your hospitality!

Can you retrieve him?

Maybe with a long string and gum attached?

Or,

The neighbors on the third floor will open their balcony window

and fetch him safely???

His relatives are worried:
