July 5, 2018 - Today I received a copy of Tom Hibbard's book, which shows the intertwined nature of the visual poetry and mail art communities. Here is the contents page:

Luna Bisonte (Columbus, Ohio) has been producing wonderful avant publications for years. Like Red Fox Press (Ireland) it's central for networkers. And of course Ruud Janssen's amazing mail art books. Luna Bisonte:

I have to add a disclaimer. Friends know I am of the "mail art and money don't mix" philosophy. I don't advocate for IUOMA becoming wall-to-wall ads with people begging for funds or hawking merchandise, even when it's for a worthy cause like that African prince raising funds to build an art school in the desert. That could get out of hand and there have been raging arguments on the platform about IUOMA and commercialism.

But of course there are grey areas, such as books relevant to our common interests. (I don't review books to sell them. I write about them because I think they're important, and some object to even that.) 

And that's the case with Tom's book. (Indeed, I remember Tom Hibbard as being an avid zinester back in the day). Most of these folks are losing money on these labors for us. So help when help can.
