λεπτά = lepta = "cents"

Yep, it is a Greek stamp, Claire...Ellas = ΕΛΛΑΣ

25 lepta was like a "quarter" of our ol' "drachma".( say 25 cents)

The image is of a monastery on Mt. Athos, here in Halkidiki, northern Greece.

Very nice and old indeed

Hi Claire, the stamp is from Greece. Aenta indicates the value of the stamp.

@ Helder - try http://www.catawiki.com/catalog/100271-stamps

It's great! I've spent whole nights there - it can be very obsessive/addictive indeed - watch out - lol!

Thanks E Coles, I appreciate it! I ordered this large lot of stamps which included many I just adore... I've now found a place called "Catawiki" on which are many stamp sellers - I've spent countless hours trying to find certain ones - 'tis rather absurd I suppose, but... So, that is, I get the "won't let me rest until I find the answer" thing very well indeed - lol!

Have a great weekend - and thanks again!

Sorry, I didn't notice your comment - I must have been searching for it for more than 30 mins. Ha - Google won't let me rest until I find the answer!

It is a Greek stamp. The word at the top says Ellas and it cost 25 lepta (whatever they were?) I think it is from 1942, scroll down on this page

Ah, found it! It's Greek, 25 Lepta from 1927 (founds lots of sellers who just have one each and I want it for a project - damn! :(  )
