After sending a kind of strange abstract piece to Svenja which ended up looking like a square owl, I received this from her:All decked out in their babywear. Wow! Am I in love! Aren't you? Hilarious. I have many Svenja favorites, and this ranks right up there with them. It sorely tempts one to continue to send oddball not-meant-to-be-animal mail art to her.
She also enclosed some photographs from Documenta 13 in Kassel, Germany, because she was so enthusiastic about it, she says, and you can see why: Works on top are by Geoffrey Farmer; bottom left is by Carl Schildbach; and bottom right is by Yan Lu. Names may need correction due to Svenja's handwriting, which is better than Cheryl Penn's, but not by enough.
Thank you very much, Svenja--I love it all!

Glad you're enjoying yourself, Svenja -- :--}
Vizma, yes, I made the rubber stamp, I had a film still as a template.
You're making my day here, friends! The Great North American Lettuce Ring-necked Melon Owl! Can't believe it! Thanks for your kind comments, and thank you for blogging Nancy!!
Thanks Fancyyyyyyy! It's great to be back! :-)
Yah, I saw one in the supermarket the day before Lisa and then Thom posted, but thought it was just a leftover example of a response to the 1980s headline "Iceberg Lettuce Makes a Comeback."
Welcome Back, Vizma!!
Whoa, Lisa!! What an extremely rare picture of the Great North American Lettuce Ring-necked Melon Owl! I thought they were a myth! FAB!
I love everything here! Did you make the good newsman, Svenja? Is he a rubber stamp? I like him.
Owls with bibs! :)
Ah, Documenta in Kassel... certainly interesting..
I like it! And I like how they are labeled "Owl 1," "Owl 2," and "Owl 3," lest momma owl get confused while taking care of her owling triplets.
The photos of the exhibit (?) "Documenta 13"... looks quite interesting. The 2-dimensional photos make it hard to tell if the artwork in them is itself 2-dimensional or 3-dimensional! (And I think it looks groovy either way!)
I love going to exhibits abroad when I'm traveling--it's facinating to see what is going on in the minds of artists in other countries and cultures--probably why IUOMA is so much fun in part!!
Hey! ...I just looked up this exhibit/festival online and the website is pretty cool:
