Not one of those letters we sent off two days ago actually went with the mail man. Does this person think our artwork's not sendable? If so, any of the other pieces we sent may just have been the fluke!Altho' I did put them in the mail again this AM with a pleasant, peaceful note suggesting these were perfectly acceptable for mailing, I'm not too sure how this will turn out.
The first outing of these letters i thought overlooked, as there had been no new mail left for us that afternoon.
Apparently, that is not to be construed with utter rejection.
And have they been taken yet?
One of us usually can be found checking our mail box's contents (or emptiness, take your pick) around 5:30 PM, after any chances for delivery have ended for the day. Which means, in another 45 minutes, yours truly will be out front to see what's up.
If they haven't been taken a 3rd time, I may have to complain. Carefully, of course. This same crew messed with some mail I'd asked be kept during one vacation a while back--and some of it got mixed in with some other postal patron's!!!
Please bear with me. If we have to, we'll take these things northward for our upcoming Mail call day (scheduled at this point for either Monday or Tuesday of next week) and have the postmistress herself look things over with a discerning eye.
I swear, we've had some weird experiences getting our mail to be accepted around here. it's as if a whole new crop of USPS people got hired by our local post office officials without any of the intelligent choosing one might be led to expect.
I ask you, fellow IUOMA folk, do these offerings appear to go outside the lines of what is currently allowable?
You be the judges:
And these?
How about these two?
I ask you, my friends. Are these really objectionable to you?
:(

Val: You know what? I do believe we are somehow in some weird sort of --oh, I dunno--vortex, ala Star trek, or something. It has been a weird start here. Nothing seems to go right the first time.
Makes one a bit glum around the edges once in a while. Not funny.
I hear from those we know around here in our part of the country, as well as from those of us spread out more on the map, always with the idea this is a strange year so far, or a strange era for our group. People's family members needing help, a violent flu virus going around, one of us curtailed in her activities by way of her own poor condition, 8 wild fires since the turn of the year.....the list goes on.
Not cursed, exactly, but in a weird space.
Can't complain, tho'. We're not in Japan.
What was it W.C. Fields chose for a headstone motto? "On the whole, I'd rather be in Philadelphia."
Think I'll bury meself in an old book of fine calibre and let the world do what it will......
Sincerely,
Oatmeal with apple sauce and cinnamon
P.S. After the mail vortex ate my first letter to you (with its very own customized map of downtown Boulder, CO), it became obvious I will have to keep a record with my computer's scanner of all that gets sent.
And that's that.
Sometimes I think that the Possums are in a unique sort of Mail Art scene that can be called something like 'Well this is what I would have sent if...and...but...and ...however... and..." Nevermind, it's fun not receiving the Possum's stuff, but still going along with the crazy monologue/dialogues/triaologues.
Keep going Possums... your 'Almost Mail Art' may become this year's IUOMA trend
(And as to 'objectionale-ness', I fear that anything combining the words 'Herman' and 'Sigean' is bound to be pounced on by the DEA, CIA, FBI, New Jersey State Authority, Ralph Nader, the Knicks, Knocks and Frankfurters [of the Supreme Court ilk in the era of the Burger]
Regards, Val
