"Gallery of Colors"/ Mail Art exhibit in Athens Nov 18-Nov 25 and Patras, Nov.23.


The "Gallery of Colors" art exhibit with mail art archives had its opening reception last night, Nov.18..

at the Cultural Center "Melina Mercouri", the Arts Cafe, in Ilion, Athens, Greece.

It began in Thessaloniki, in May, 2012 and has been traveling to the Greek Island, Chios and Skopelos, etc. The exhibit is now in Athens for a week and will have a showing in Patra, too. Organized by Afroditi Karamanli, member of IUOMA, there was a "mini" meeting of mail artist with Marina Dovrou and Katerina Nikoltsou.

Many mail artists from IUOMA will recognize their art work on display.

For one day seminar/symposium, mail art in the Gallery of Colors went to

Patras, Greece (port city on the west coast by the Adriatic Sea).

Afroditi Karamanli was invited to lecture at the University of Patras.

Mail art was displayed around the lecture hall.

No can cut-up the carpet, Vizma :-(

'Tis a "prayer carpet from Istanbul Bazaar, 1970!

You didn't see it at the studio in August because we roll 'em up

and store them from the heat of summer. Also the two Bukhara ones :-)

With intention of establishing a ‘ Gallery of Colors’ 
On the occasion of the idea to set up an international day of Color on the 2nd of Mai by the graphic designer Andrea Foudoulidi (in our current grey times) We started a collection of artwork since 2011 and continue this year towards the exhibition on 2nd of May  2012

The first exhibition was be set up in the old Printing building (Tipografio) in Xiladika Thessaloniki,

adjacent to the Railway Station: 1 Aliakmonos str.  (54647)Thessaloniki-Greece.

                                                                PROGRAM 
Wednesday 2 of May 2012 – Opening 
10p.m. – 5p.m. Coloring the façade of the exhibition space with perforated decorations and spray, with repeated motifs to create a 3-floor mosaic 
Thursday 3rd of May 2012
10p.m. – 5p.m. Create with local residents, using recycling materials, a sculpture for Thessaloniki
Friday 4rth of May 2012
Music, Theater performances and Recitations of Literary Texts from 4 in the evening until 4 in the morning with the traditional bun of Thessaloniki

The exhibition traveled shortly afterwards in the island Chios, July,2012

and to the island of Skopelos in August, 2012,with the initiative of the ‘Anna’s Restaurant’37003 Skopelos.
