fantastic space-time flummox from Katrerina Nikoltsu

i received this delightful card from Katerina Nikoltsu today, my first from Greece.

you will observe that the stamp on the left side of the card bears the message "JAN 21 2011". you will also note the motif of straight lines, made curvy on that same left side. the opposite side gives greetings for the Chinese New Year, year of the rabbit.

very pleasant, yes? but within this "simple" card lurks a momentous secret! as it was, in fact, received on January 17 (a full four days earlier than its professed date of origin, and on the date of 'Art's Birthday') i can reach only one conclusion:

Katerina is in cahoots with the New Year's rabbits. they demand tribute in magenta printer's ink. by ancient algorithms of recurrent hippity-hoppity powers and possibly string theory and the i ching, all of our straight lines will colourmorph and warble. they will make the sun a gorgeous hue of red in winter, and everyone will write in lovely neat handwriting like Katerina's. usual customs will change: collages will be cut out with blunt objects, and we will be forbidden to sweep the scraps over our thresholds. sales of small red-and-gold envelopes will skyrocket worldwide. most importantly, the dates of Art's Birthday and the Chinese New Year festival will be forever switched, causing a tiny shred in the space-time continuum, which will of course have UNFATHOMABLE RESULTS!

Katerina, thank you for this piece of art, and the flight of fancy it inspired. being assured that mail will reach me from Greece, i look forward to many exchanges in the (rabbit-addled) future.
