Creative creature cover!

As an application for my creature of the month contest Nancy Bell Scott sent me this wonderful book cover with two truly beautiful beasts. I searched for the translation for this kind of dog and found "wiener dog" or "sausage dog" - funny. I really love this piece, can't really describe its presence but it is old and wonderful and as a book loving person it's very special to me. Thanks a lot!!!

Well it doesn't die, but it says "Get me outta here!" Svenja, pardon if you were kidding, but dachshunds here are also known as hotdogs. We eat food-hotdogs at picnics and baseball games and when there's absolutely nothing else in the refrigerator.
