Classic DharmaDaDa from Erni Baer (Hamburg, Germany)

Mail-art by IUOMA member Erni Baer (Hamburg, Germany)

January 6, 2014 - The new year always brings a fresh resolve to archive mail-art received. I have had this work by Erni Baer for a long time. In fact, it can be considered historic at this point. Yet it now has been archived, and I am pleased to share it with IUOMA friends.

The work above is a large collage by Erni that bears all the cryptic symbolism engineered by Grigori Antonin (Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA) who has been so instrumental in translating the DharmaDaDa's life and philosophy into art. Here is the reverse side:

This piece is minimal compared to other collage work by Erni Baer: He often juxtaposes images from different sources. He also works frequently with unaltered, found material; this piece fits more comfortably in that category. Regardless, I think he always has a good eye for images. As many are well-aware, Erni Baer's envelopes are works of art:

And the reverse:

Belated thanks and best wishes to Erni.
