Heart Rob(ber) from Thom Courcelle (Washington U.S.A)

A FAB weave piece from Thom, WITH a wonderful letter – which opens with – This is for you simply because of the wonder-full-ness- icity of you! OK – who is NOT going to fall for a letter like that? Thom mentions my confusion at the goings on in Forks – you know the vampires and all, so he also enclosed a pamphlet on Forks – where “you can find it… see it… do it all in FORKS – really???? That must be where all the heart robbers live? I see that Thom knits too, and writes so beautifully – is there no end to his talent?  I think Thom too was the Bulk Blog Inventor?

From Caun Miles (East London - South Africa) My first mail art – a FAB collage from East London - EVER!  – very exciting – the back of the card reads “I’ve been meaning to mail you for some time… until I joined IUOMA I thought I was the lone SA mail artist – MAN! I know that feeling! Wonderful green tones in the illuminated palace in the valley of the Ancients…

DAVE from Jon Foster (Salem U.S.A)

Dave sits successfully transferred by tape in an orange layered landscape, mournfully contemplating his future. Luckily he was in Jons’ future – but more importantly in mine – He travelled from his home in whatever magazine he existed before and has been layered with information that includes his release papers – told you I like happy ever afters! Jon says he’s ‘back to makin’ some stuff’ – YAY!!

DAS UNBEHAGEN from Svenja Wahl (Heidelberg – Germany)

The Uneasiness

There is a wonderfully dark and somber tone to Svenja’s work – it is layered in terms of aesthetics and  materials – I get the DISTINCT feeling of uneasiness hovering in this work – I LOVE it!! The final overlay is acetate – its marvelous to see though to the brick wall, to wonder at the people facing away – I have A LOT to say about this work in terms of meaning – but I think I’ll let someone else begin that discussion as I’m ALWAYS in trouble for that… And as for Cleopatra – well – that’s one marvelous envelope image.

I think most of you have had a luck from Guido Vermeulen (Belgium)  – visions from his dream life – I wish mine was as active as his.  He titled this “Don’t be a Stranger” – words from an email we exchanged. Guido always lives in hope that his mail is going to get scrunched in the mail box – this guy? THEY gave him a really hard time – and he was UPSET by it!!! – So was I…

I don’t get much work from Torma Cauli (Budapest)  – but I’m ALWAYS excited to see what he sends – its unusual to say the least. You know some people wear their hearts on their sleeves? Torma wears people on his sleeve – YES! This is a REAL embroidered sleeve with folks looking in sheer amazement at the fineness of the stitches they have travelled a long way to see – they were NOT disappointed!

I know too that Torma is a book artist – here is a WONDERFUL little artists book made from a Quality Socks label.  The letters are all made of pasta, text situated on Torma’s very recognizable collage paper.  I think he includes it in all his work?   It is such a FAB I cant tell you – I’m inspired.  There were other treasure in this envelope too – I’m saving them for another day.

Thank you all so much - I LOVE this mail art exchange - its like Xmas every day - well most days - the days its not? Its sad, very sad (Those words from Rod (VEC)  :-) X

Excellent blog, cheryl! What treasures each and every one must be. I agree, each is so unique and FAB in their own way of expression. And you did a FAB job briniging them all together. Go girl! (I just put 'em up in the olive tree :-)

An excellent compilation blog, Cheryl! The work represents so many different styles. I love Thom's work with weaves, that's one heck of a Jon Foster piece, and I'm wowed by Svenja's art - but it's all superb!

I'm always coming back to that pasta piece. The seemingly randomly (that must be wrong) scattered letters, really well done.

Petit Pea - nice to see you on these shores :-)! I have had some treasures lately and feel BAD that I don't get to blog much anymore - I had to close my eyes and random choose... :- ) X

P.S. - The spell chick - I've pressed SOMETHING and she REFUSES to come back :-( ....

Some beauty bulk you have!! I don't even know where to start! Each piece is so very different and yet you bring them all together so naturally.

Hmmm, I haven't had a luck from Guido Vermeulen, no. I like it when the spell chick is on strike, especially on pac days.
