Beautiful Theory - Fearful Symmetry

My local supermarket sometimes gives away stickers for themed sticker albums as promotion. I usually collect them so I can give them away to children. However, I had a whole pile of them from a some years ago, still in their packaging. So finally, a few days ago I opened them for my own pleasure and to see what kind of surprise would be inside. Quite a few of them were doubles, but instead of the matching other half I got two of the same. Now I used them for a series of 16 different postcards "Out of Evolution or Fearful Symmetry" .

I sent off four cards to the "Beautiful Theory" call in Birmingham, UK.

This is what I wrote on the back: "To me art and science are complementary human practices. Both involve couriosity, knowledge, method, experiment, intuition and leaps of faith. This 16 part postcard project is an hommage to nature, art and science, represented by Blake’s fearful symmetry and Darwin’s tree of life. The cards were made by recycling free stickers for a sticker album."

The small drawing is from Darwin's notebook, where he first sketched his ideas about evolution.
