Beautiful ragged beauty from Marie Wintzer

It would be great, and I looked forward to it immensely:

The first art I'd ever receive from Marie, that is. Her work was evident my first day here, and since then there hasn't been one piece that didn't strike me as special, extraordinary, desirable.  Many people already know that, but this is my first in-person look at and feel of a work of Marie's, and I cherish it. The delicateness, the unique way it is held loosely together, and the myriad pieces that seem to represent whole aspects of culture: bookbinding elements, old newspaper photo from Japan, music, the rhetorical question about "zaloop" (hmm), other small items, and then, suddenly, the colorful bit of nature, the flower wearing an ant! To remind us that nothing is "pure" or uncreepy in the maybe insectless way we'd sometimes like to think, but it all is connected, whether tightly or loosely? So much to ponder and delight in, in this mail art from Marie. I love it, and she included an old book cover, which she says "feel free to use!" It would be nice to think I would or could use it, but it's a work of art unto itself. It will have its own place to live here.

Marie, thank you very much for your beautiful mail art! Something new from me will be on its way to you soon.

Oh Nancy, what a great and sweet blog, how can I thank you? I really like your commentary. I am always surprised when people seem to appreciate so much what I sent. I can only say thank you. And to Bifidus-san too!

:-))

That's true, Bifidus. Next time (if I'm lucky enough to have a next time) I'm going to paste your exact words under the blog photos, and that should take care of it.

thanks for posting, Nancy. It is challenging to capture the essence of Marie's work in a blog--her work must truly be held in the hands, no other way to experience it.
