Oh you two put my box to shame - I might just have to goof it up a bit now - thanks for the inspiration!

Mine smiles when it gets mail art...the others are so jealous and sad!

Wow what a creative or unloved selection of boxes! Mine could do with a brolly, damn thing leaks. Poor postman must think I spy on him - I try and open the door to him before he's had chance to put mail in the box on a wet day.

Bonsoir OranGina! If you look at my web-site www.val-herman-art.eu  then Stamp Art  then Post Boxes, you'll see a s election of post boxes from Sigean & neighbouring villages that I photoed (?) a while back.

As to Scotland, well uno, I didn't think that there was much of any sort of postal 'service' during the reign of Elizabeth 1 and/or Mary Queen of Scots, etc, and dos I wonder what the Scots will do with their Mail Boxes if they vote for independence.

Good Morning Val, or is it brunch time for you... It would seem that I am obsessed with postboxes wouldn't it, really I'm not just found it interesting. I hadn't realised there was a group devoted to them. They probably already know this... I further read...

'you won't see the Royal Cypher of Queen Elizabeth II on postboxes in Scotland because of protests in the 1950s when postboxes were set on fire.

The Royal Cypher was replaced by the Scottish crown, in sympathy with Scots who did not recognise Elizabeth I.

Geek!

Interesting that Machan makes the post boxes & Machin designed the iconic definitive stamp.
