I have seen Satu’s vispo posted at IUOMA and thought that she concentrated mainly on digital mediums.   These pieces I have received are a visual and tactile delight.

Satu has used extant text (a hint at altered book practice) - rewriting the world that is already written.  Imposing a more subtle form of meaning on a structure that  integrates visual arts elements (collage), sewing  and writing. A three-dimensional structure. That's how complex Red is.

Is Red Complex? Without a doubt. Red is almost always opposite – love and war. Energy and aggression.  Excitement and violence.

Red is the color of power and danger. Fire.

Red represents  all things intense and passionate.

Thank you Satu, indeed a great gift of your work.

Mail art received 1st week January 2011.

This is the first work of Satu's I have received.  I have seen similar versions of the envelope image on  IUOMA - text over text over image - a sort of organic-ising of the set structures of text.

Satu has used rudimentary but recognizable  text and visual fragments to  create a page of almost symbol shaped elements that could be construed as an alternate language structure. What is interesting too is that the textual elements occur in speech bubbles, indicating some sort of written communication. 

The railings, the buildings, the architectural structures that keep the world town together.

Another side of Satu's work I had not seen - just beautiful. The Red Party is an incredible concept. I can't believe the work that is being produced. I suppose it does cater to those of us who are very fond of red, all the same...
