https://www.postcrossing.com/ sending postcards around the world.

Just found Postcrossing, an organization started in 2005 for people trading postcards around the world in Jean Trals's IUOMA page which I looked at due to today being her birthday, HAPPY BIRTHDAY, Jean. There was a link there to the history of postcards and the postal system which includes a VERY LARGE collection of historical postal images perhaps of interest to some of us.

here's a link to one: …

MAIL ART... ALL forms of art?

I sense that we think of mail art as visual or perhaps textual [poetry] art but there is a whole Universe of other art, think singing, dance, instrumental music. And, with that to prime our mindset, allow me to introduce you to an amazing guitarist, Jin San Kim, 19-yr old Korean, self taught, sounds as if he plays with at least 40 fingers...

Here is a link:…

Although a mail 'artist' who can't draw, I CAN scribble and then feed it thru both Deep Dream and Meta AI to get the real Fike!

Meta AI enlisted as creator of whimsical text on snailmail

Sample 1

In the dimly lit recesses of the postal abyss, a legion of lunatic letter carriers conjure an unholy ritual to summon the Snailmail Gods. As the moon hangs low in the sky, they dance with reckless abandon, their mailbags aflutter like the wings of deranged birds. The wind whispers secrets in their ears, and they scribble frenzied notes on envelopes, imbuing the mail with the…

Mailartists might wish to read "The Crying of Lot 49"`

especially after reading the Wikipedia article on it [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Crying_of_Lot_49] as I just did.

I know I read the book years ago but now, as an octogenarian, I realize that most of my life I have not paid close attention to much of anything.

Seeking external genitalia images from google's DeepDream

As many of you may know, I'm trying to get google's DeepDream AI image generation application to make suitably strange or even suggestive images for use as mailart. My thought is that an AI is NOT human and will misunderstand our language perhaps interestingly.

I hope no one is offended by this but I understand that some may be.

At first all that the app produced was what I consider Bowdlerized pix and, when queried, the google support people verified that it…

Soooooo Slooooooow

Howdy, All.

Hello, IUOMAns!

Still way behind on replying and not catching up so's you'd notice.

Had chemo yesterday and, as usual, the steroids they infuse to keep me from being nauseous seem to result in an increase of energy at least for the next day. So I'd better use summa it to pare down the backlog.

Some may have noticed that I've adopted an abbreviated [4me anyway] format with one of my photo cards used as a postcard. Since my chemo side effects seem to be…

GETTING FURTHER BEHIND [SORRY!]

We've moved into our new home, the doublewide trailer only a few yards from our old home and in it's front yard.

Seems like chemo and/or life has thrown us a few curves in the form of a cold and a fungal[?] infection which are hanging on and making life less interesting.

Expecting my Angel, son-in-law Dan and his wife [our daughter #2, Mary] 2day and will probably ask him to transport me to an urgent care so I can start trying to see if I have a fungal infection from…

4got2keep up the blog, Dag Nabbit!

So here it is 2022, time flies like an arrow, fruit flies like a banana.

I'm in remission from cancer discovered late 2021 and treated with chemo, a delight if you like crappy side effects but who's to compain, it's got me in remission from a colon cancer which had metastasized to a lung before it was discovered but my Turkish Delight Dr. Soley [Bayraktar] has beaten it back with metabolic poisons for which I am undyingly [at least for now] grateful.

and 2day I received…
