Amy Irwen: Batz Fly at nite

Amy bats a homerun with this one.  Wonderful texture that doesn't show up too well on the scan.  Just take my word for it, this piece has a great feeling.  And yes, that is a whole star, I mean star hole, or star punch hole.…

Amy Irwen: Bugger All

A nice little card from Amy to say thank you for the London group card we sent her.

Thank you Amy, but I will have to disqualify this mail art piece.  I don't think we really say the "B" word.

But is surely made me smile.

Amy Irwen: R.I.P.

I had entitled this one "D", but Amy had another idea in mind.  I like Amy's aspects of Man Woman and machine.  Thread and no thread, and a sense of "Don't thread on me" (The American flag of 1775).  You have come a long way and Betsy Ross would be proud of you Amy.

Yes, Amy's sewing machine has been…

Amy Irwen: The sea rushes to me & dream catcher

Titled: The sea rushes to me.  Amy has woken up from that cold winter and is on a Summer roll.   Wonderful Amy, this is simply wonderful.

Not to mention that living in Minnesota, the sea has a long way to rush.

And in the same hand made sewn envelope I found…

Amy Irwen Marks the page with The Spirit of Art Bookmark

A lovely return to an all time classic.  Remember when people had real books and marked the pages so they knew where they left off?  Well Amy sent off this little gem in an amazing envelope as well.  I really have to get that sewing machine out of the back room.

Look at the texture of this beauty, it's great and fun to touch.  And no, those are not Amy's blue…

Amy Irwen: Floating Fiber - Do you have it in your daily diet?

Amy sets out a very deep concept.  Floating fibers.  You never see them mention on cereal boxes, but they do exist.

Sorry I got carried away there ... Deep concept, yes you can just see yourself falling into these fluffy pieces of fibers and colours.  I'm sure you will agree.  Lovely indeed.

Thank you Amy.  I am always amazed of what you can do…

Amy Irwen : Chainlinked and totally together

A wonderful piece where Amy broke down a  larger handpainted collage to made this one. The sewing puts it all totally together. And it arrived in this funky envelope made from an old calendar of guitars.  How many people have calendars of guitars?

Well just for you information, this one is a Stratocaster which is one of 100 that were handpainted by Pamelina H.

Pirate cupcakes kit from Amy Irwen

Come all ye young fellows that follow Amy. And pray pay attention and listen to me. I'll show you a piece that you'll just have to sea.  HO HO HO Well blow me head down.   The Rosemount post office must have been smiling all day.  They split their sides laughing at Mail Art which was sent all this way.  Give me some time to blow the man down.  Great Amy, and Thank you, it is a barrel full of fun ... but wait, there is more.…

YO HO Mate! Amy Irwen comes ashore with this delightful Pirates book

Well what a treat of two in one week from Amy.  I will only have time to show you this first imagne as there are acutally 13 pages to scan.  Besides that, one of the words "Rowdy" fell off and I'm not sure where to put it back.  The detail is just out of this world, and I am again overwhelmed.

I'll be adding to this blog at a later date, but for now, enjoy this little peek.…

Amy Irwen Taking Liberties

There she goes again that little Amy "Taking Liberties" in a very big way.  Wonderful Mail Art with the shoe strings included.  Great idea and fun to look at all day long.  Being an ex-marathon runner, the melting of the shoes brings it all home for me.  Lovely and moving.

Another little gem from Amy.  Very inspiring.  Thank you…

VOODOO from Amy Irwen

Emergency electronic chip from Amy Irwen

I received this Emergency electronic chip from Amy Irwen which had me laughing on the floor. The instructions said; "Swallow in case of an Emergency", which in my case might remove all the static electricity which hovers around me. I still smile when I look at this piece. Could it be that we are the same chip off the old block?…
