I had meant to praise Nancy too for her fabulous bridgework (sorry about the pun).
And Cheryl's bridges are inspiring and beautiful. I'm doing a concrete poetry series in tribute.
When I saw these, I immediately thought of Hart Crane's long poem "The Bridge." I think it's mostly forgotten but is right there with the noble 20th century attempts at epics such as Pound's "Cantos," Wiliams' "Paterson," and Olson's "Maximus." A bridge is a tremendous metaphor.
