I'm happy to hear you like Griffin & Sabine's maker -- I just got that book and looked at it for the first time the other day! I think it's pretty amazing.

thanks very much for the update on my influences, Republic of Pinkingshear NGA. in the spirit of clarity, i feel compelled to mention that up until this morning i had never heard of Joe Brainard, nor seen his work. googled him, and though i appreciate his accomplishments, he is not an artist i would steal from. Ray Johnson, yes. Cornell, Ernst, Westermann, Berman, the guy who wrote Griffin & Sabine and host of contemporary mail artists are my current inspirations. i borrowed the idea of using Nancy from Angelica Paez, one of my favorite mail artists. glad to hear you are back in the MA network and wishing you well on your creative journey.

It's a combination of Joe Brainard's work, mixed with Ray J's Rabbit.

thanks very much, Toni . don't really know how to answer your question other than to say perhaps it has to do with nostalgia for times past. you might want to ask Angelica Paez her thoughts regarding the Nancy link to mail art.

OK, I give up. I've looked all over the web and I can't find the relationship between Nancy the cartoon and mail artists -- what am I missing? by the way, Stan, I really like this piece!
