Ceci est le joyau de la couronne de mon chef-d'œuvre sur les mammifères d'Alsace. Je suis le martyr mur sombre. J'ai été cloué à la croix par les fascistes. Maintenant, je suis brûlé comme Jeanne d'Arc.

We don't need Alsace II, Rancher. This one has taken all the bullets it possibly can take and it is still standing. And no treaty can be better than this one.
January... March.... June... August...
still there.
And again. The saving grace. I wonder how often I'll come back to this piece...
I have to see this again and thank you, Dw. Not only is it a beauty, but it has also proven to be airtight and bulletproof (so far). A stroke of genius it must have been.
Only you would appreciate the painstaking process that went into making this look like a painting! Exactly. From what I understand, it started with some photos of the Treaty of Versailles, which I think was signed in this room with some very large, old oil paintings.
I think the female figures are the most important. They all (except for the woman on the far left) are different visions of Dw's CB or TRRH. She is the Virgin of Maps & Train Schedules - you might recognize her from the other work. She is the Girl Scout who saves Dw from the flames and his martyrdom. And yet another version of her is on the right - the dark-haired woman. The real Treaty of Alsace is CB choosing to save Dw from his martyrdom. The buttons aren't that significant. It has a lot of asemic writing and, yes, different arrangement of buttons were used for asemics in other pieces.
Anyway, Dw is feverishly trying to complete the series. I'm glad you are back safe and sound.
Oh I just like everything about this. Well, Dw sure has a tendency to depict himself as a martyr :-)) I like the fact that he is a little boy in the Treaty, it fits well with Dark wall "chan" (mostly used for kids). The aging of the original pictures is so well done. And the open triptych, fantastic! I could go on... The two signatures at the bottom of the page, and the postage stamps (as seals?), great! I'm not sure how to interpret the buttons. I have seen them on some of DVS' work, asemic4 or 5, can't remember precisely. It was a piece sent to E, with the inscription "asemiotics". Which to me sounds a lot like "antibiotics". So I am seeing this as pills of some kind. But that's just me wandering off track....
needless to say, I love it!
